Drilled Pier
-- Pier depth is determined by an engineer (normally 12' to 15' below grade level). -- Concrete is poured to form 1 ft. pad - reinforced with #4 rebar - as a base from which to raise the house. -- After structure is leveled, sonotube cap is filled to the bottom of the beam. -- Sonotube pier reinforced with steel of #4 rebar with metal stirrups placed 18" apart. -- Pier shaft width is determined by an engineer (normally it is 12" wide). -- 24" Bell at the bottom of the pier.
* Most effective for light structures. * Hand-held auger is used due to it being less obtrusive and quieter than drilling rigs. The hand-held auger can also access hard-to-reach places inside the home. |
